Welcome to the Randwick Community Organic Garden
RCOG is a community of gardeners interested in working towards a sustainable future by growing fresh organic produce and plants, learning about organic gardening and permaculture techniques, sharing skills and knowledge with the local community and cultivating the health of soil, plants, wildlife, people and community.
We don't use pesticides or herbicides, we create our own composts and collect our own rainwater. We share the fruits and vegetables of the communal gardens and tend our own plots.
The garden is situated in Paine Reserve, corner Rainbow and Botany Streets, Randwick, Sydney (map).

We have a strong organic gardening community of more than 80 members. Our present motto is: 'He who plants a garden, plants happiness'.

The garden holds its monthly working bee every third Sunday of the month (9 am in winter and in the daylight saving months). Everyone is very welcome to come and give us a hand!

Covid-19 RCOG Updates

Due to NSW COVID restrictions for outdoor gatherings we have suspend working bees and all other events until restrictions ease.

The RCOG is able to remain open for members to visit for recreation and exercise purposes. To visit the garden, members must live either within 5km of the garden OR within the Randwick LGA.

  • Masks: all NSW residents over the age of 12 years must wear a mask when outside the home. This rule comes into effect at 12.01am on Monday 23rd August. We ask that all members follow this mandate when at the garden.
  • Traveling to Excercise: To visit the garden members must live either within 5km of the garden OR within the Randwick LGA.
  • Sign In with QR code: Please sign in with the QR code each time you enter the garden. This is a mandatory requirement of entry.
  • Social Distancing: Please keep at least 1.5 metres distance from members outside your household when in the garden.
  • Unwell?: Please stay at home and get tested.
  • Who Can Enter the Garden?: Member only. Sadly, no visitors whilst Greater Sydney is under Stay At Home Orders. This is part of our Covid Safety plan.

Let’s keep each other safe and well.

Thanks for your understanding and stay safe.

About Us
RCOG is a not-for-profit incorporated association where membership is open to all. RCOG is being created for, and is managed by, the local community.
RCOG offers the opportunity for the local community:
  • to access space to grow fresh veggies, herbs and flowers using organic gardening methods while enjoying the benefits of robust, outdoor health
  • to participate in sustainable gardening and creative environments
  • to enjoy the social benefits of community garden membership; meet people from different segments of the community and develop friendships
  • to improve our environment through involvement in a practical project offering simple solutions for environmentally friendly living.

RCOG has working bees on the third Sunday of every Month. Working bees are a fun way to get hands on knowledge and experience in organic gardening, meet fellow community gardeners and contribute to a sustainable future of our community.
